LED Lights in 2013: Evolution and Revolution

Here on LED Display Lights, we like to keep you up to date on anything and everything to do with LED display lights.

However, with the start of 2013, I thought it might be fun to take a broader look at how far LEDs have come in the past few years.

Inspired by the iconic light display in Times Square, Ian Hardy from the BBC looked at some of the latest improvements in LED technology.

Famous lights like the New Year’s Eve Ball and the display on the Empire State Building have been completely re-imagined in the past few years, thanks to LED lights. They have become more energy-efficient, more durable, easier to use, and offer more aesthetic options.

Consumer LEDs have begun to move in this direction as well. In 2012, we saw many new, innovative LED light fixtures, even some that you can control with a smartphone or tablet.

You can view Hardy’s investigation in full right here.

And what does all this mean for LED display lights? I’m picturing more diverse, eye-catching, and interactive options for all. No matter what, the future is looking bright!
